Medical Staff Office supports the Medical Staff in those delegated activities performed on behalf of the Board of Directors of the University of Kansas Hospital to assure quality patient care. Allied Health Professionals applications are also processed here. The MSO has been delegated the credentialing activities on behalf of Kansas University Physicians, Incorporated (KUPI), Mid America Cardiology (MAC), and Professional Services of KU Hospital (PSKU). To physicians, the delegated agreements means less paperwork with managed care providers.

•• Through facilitating adherence to the medical staff bylaws, rules & regulations, TJC standards, NCQA Guidelines, and CMS Guidelines

Judi Smedra, CPMSM, CPCS
Director, became a hospital authority employee December, 1998 and has over 25 years experience as medical staff coordinator ranging in facilities from 97 bed rural to 600 bed metropolitan hospital as well as a managed care organization. She directs daily activities in the Medical Staff Affairs Office as well as issues/audits for managed care for UKP, PSKU, and MAC.
Credentialing Coordinator, started with KU Hospital January, 2000. Pat has over 20 years of hospital experience. She processes applications for medical staff and allied health professionals. She is the lead coordinator for questions relating to medical staff applications.
Credentialing Specialist, has been with the Medical Staff Office since July, 2007. She processes medical staff and allied health applications. She is the lead specialist for questions relating to allied health professionals.
Credentialing Specialist, has been with the Medical Staff Office since June, 2016. She processes medical staff and allied health professional applications.
Administrative Assistant to the Director. Responsibilities include expiration reports for all staff, support of the Director, medical staff office functions, as well as Chief of Staff calendar.
