Research Focus

Neuromotor control in primates

I am originally from Wichita, KS, where I graduated from Wichita Collegiate High School in 2002. I attended the University of Kansas and graduated with a BA in Biochemistry in 2006 and was honored to receive the "Class of 1913" Chancellor's Award. At the University of Kansas, I was fortunate enough to do research with Dr. Dean Stetler's Lab in the department of molecular biology.  We investigated the use of cytotoxic fusion proteins as a therapy for the autoimmune disease systemic lupus erythematosus.

In the Summer of 2006 and 2007, I did two research rotations to help decide which lab I would join before finishing my first two years of medical school.  I decided to join Dr. Paul Cheney's Lab and have been familiarizing myself with the techniques and protocols necessary to start my research project.  I am planing to study ipsilateral motor control using electrophysiological techniques. 

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my lovely wife, Katie.  We have been busy this year working on our house and visiting family and friends.  We enjoy going to and playing racket ball at the rec center, watching movies and tv, and exploring a number of the unique activities around Kansas City.
