I grew up outside Dallas, TX but moved to a small town called Batesville in Arkansas for college. I graduated summa cum laude from Lyon College with B.S.s in biology and chemistry and a B.A. in mathematics. While at Lyon, I started research with Dr. Irosha Nawarathne in an organic synthesis lab where I created analogues of existing tuberculosis antibiotics to treat multidrug-resistant tuberculosis infections. I took a break from chemistry research one summer and worked with Dr. Kathrin Schrick at Kansas State University where I studied genome sequencing of an algal species and using the alga as a model system for plant cell wall mechanics.
This summer I am rotating in Dr. Jay Vivian's lab. I am excited to start living in Kansas City and to join the KUMC MD/PhD program
