Effects of estrogen on the autonomic nervous system of the heart
I grew up in a suburb of Wichita, and finished high school at Olathe North in the Kansas City Metro. As an undergraduate student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, I studied in a Molecular Biology/Biochemistry lab designing fluorescent protein biosensors. My interests have broadened to include primarily research that is directly applicable to medicine. I am currently in my PhD phase of the program (and loving it!) in Dr. Peter Smith's lab. My research topic, although still developing, is the influence of estrogen on the autonomic innervation of the heart.
