LeadBusters is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, Kansas corporation whose mission is to prevent childhood lead poisoning in Greater Kansas City. Its current membership is comprised of over 100 individuals from throughout Kansas and Missouri, and includes educators, researchers, public health and environmental professionals, health care providers, building and remodeling contractors, housing organization and neighborhood leaders, environmental consultants, and concerned citizens.

     The organization meets on the second Monday of each month, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Kansas City Missouri Health Department, 2400 Troost, Kansas City, Missouri, 64108. Meetings are open to the public, and new members are always welcome. Contact us for a membership application, and receive monthly mailings and newsletters.

Outreach Services

• Hotline (913-438-LEAD) with recorded information and one-touch call forwarding

• Speaker's Bureau comprised of professionals with diverse backgrounds and abilities to address a broad spectrum of professionals, lay people, adults and children

• Exhibits at community events, health fairs, home shows, and meetings

• Children's Programs including puppet shows, contests, storytelling, interactive games and our Leadasaurus mascot

• Lead Abatement training for contractors

• Door-to-Door Educational Outreach

• Workshops and Conferences providing state-of-the-art information on a variety of lead poisoning prevention issues

• Resource Library containing videos, books, and educational materials

• Referrals to other organizations for blood testing, home repair programs, and related services
