James T. Birch, Jr., MD, is a Board Certified physician in Family Medicine and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine issued by the American Board of Family Medicine. His practice focuses on primary care of the older adult in the community and the nursing home as well as residency education in Family Medicine. He has been designated as a Certified Medical Director by the American Medical Directors Association Certification Program. Dr. Birch is the associate director of the Geriatric Medicine clerkship for third year medical students. His research interests are polypharmacy reduction, medication management for the older adult, improving transitions of care, and primary care of the geriatric patient.
