2013 Announcement (PDF)
The University of Kansas Medical Center is pleased to announce the request for nominations recognizing outstanding researchers for the Faculty Research Investigator Award. The recipients of this award last year were Gustavo Blanco, M.D., Ph.D., Robin Maser, Ph.D., and Dough Wright, Ph.D.
The Annual Faculty Research Investigator Awards recognize and honor significant research accomplishments by the faculty of the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Salina and Wichita. The awards are made in conjunction with Faculty Research Day, which is held each year at KUMC Kansas City. Recipients of awards will be selected in advance and each will be asked to give a presentation of their research as part of the Research Day activities. They will also be eligible for a cash award.
These awards are given to investigators who display evidence of significant research accomplishments and a high potential for sustained productive research in the future. Excluding previous winners of the Chancellors Club Research Award, the Senior Investigator Research Award, or the Faculty Investigator Research Award, all faculty who have had appointments at the University of Kansas Medical Center or School of Medicine Salina and Wichita for at least 2 years are eligible. All recipients must have established a substantial research program as evidenced by:
Investigator Research Awards ($1,000): It is possible that one or more awards could be made in each of the schools: Health Professions, Medicine (KC/Salina/Wichita) and Nursing. Previous winners are not eligible.
Submission of Material: The Committee strongly encourages self nomination, nomination by colleagues, or by a Department Chair or other interested party. The nominating material should include:
a. The candidate's complete/current;
b. A one-page statement of the nominee's research accomplishments (This statement should be made by the nominator(s), and is of critical importance in facilitating the Committee's evaluation of the merits of the application. It should be based on material containedwithin the CV, but it is intended as a supplement);
c. Copies of the candidate's most significant publications (maximum-5);
d. Three letters of support from scientific peers
Submissions will then be reviewed and ranked by the appropriate school’s research committee (see contact names below). The Faculty Assembly Research Committee will review all the school’s applications and rankings to make recommendations to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research Administration for a final decision.
