Research Training and Education

Research and discovery is one of our primary missions at KU Medical Center, and we are very proud of the exciting research that is being carried out here. We must remain vigilant that our researchers and their teams are performing only the highest quality of research. Therefore, it is important for us to have quality professional development in place to ensure our investigators and all research personnel adhere to the highest standards.

Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) training is required for all personnel who are involved in research (human, animal, bench-top) at KUMC. Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training is also required for all investigators and clinical trial staff engaged in the execution of a clinical trial.

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) , Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) require additional trainings before those committees will approve protocols and addition of personnel.   For access to trainings housed in CITI (e.g., GCP, RCR, Human Subjects, Laboratory Animal) click here. For investigators new to KUMC, see instructions for Creating a new account in CITI.

Training is required for all personnel who are involved in human subjects research at KUMC.

Please refer to the IRB's Human Subject Protection Training website for information and instructions on accessing CITI with KUMC credentials
