Role of the KU Medical Center Research Institute in conducting clinical trials

The Research Institute is the official contracting and fiscal entity for clinical trials funded by pharmaceutical, biotechnology, private, and non-profit organizations that are conducted at the University of Kansas Medical Center. All research projects that receive funding from one of these sources are required to be routed through the Research Institute’s Clinical Research Administration division. All clinical trial agreements and budgets for these studies are required to be negotiated and reviewed by the Research Institute.

Research Institute employees are considered agents of the institution (KU Medical Center), and as such are required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
