The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs holds a number of events throughout the year for training, social connection, and development of postdoctoral scholars. Please view the calendar below for upcoming opportunities. Regularly occuring series include the Professional Development Series, Career Development Series, and Career Panels. Special events and other programs will cover a range of topics of interest to the postdoctoral community.
Career Panels- Career panels are offered throughout the year and feature a panel of guest speakers from diverse backgrounds. Panels are divided into two focuses: Beyond the Bench panels focus on careers outside academic research, while other panels provide information for those on an academic path.
Professional Development Series- Professional development events are offered throughout the year. These events focus on the "soft skills" that can make a great difference in your success in the workplace. Skills covered range from communications, to leadership, and beyond.
Career Development Series- Career development events are offered throughout the year. These events focus on skills needed for identifying and pursuing your career goals. Skills covered range from profesisonal networking, CV writing, and beyond.
KPA Monthly Career Development Sessions- Every month, the KUMC Postdoctoral Association provides an opportunity for postdoctoral scholars to connect and enhance their career skills. A different topic or speaker is featured each month. Postdocs are invited to sign up to speak themselves, or suggest speakers for future events. Contact KPA@kumc.edu for more information
Postdoctoral Appreciation Week
Every September, the University of Kansas Medical Center joins with the National Postdoctoral Association, and institutions across the country to celebrate National Postdoctoral Appreciation Week.
