Sean graduated from the University of Kansas main campus in 2004 with degrees in English Literature and Molecular and Cellular Biology. He has participated in research internships at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, MD, and in the United States House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. He began medical school in 2005 at the University of Kansas Medical Center and anticipates pursuing clinical research in neurology or neuroanesthesiology after residency. Sean helps with a variety of tasks in the Alzheimer's and Memory Program, but his primary research focus is on the effects of leptin, a protein hormone released by fat cells, on certain brain volumes, body measurements, and cognitive performance.
