The KU Medical Center Area Health Education Center provides high-quality continuing education for Kansas health care professionals. We offer opportunities to thousands of health care providers in scores of communities in a variety of formats, including in-person presentations, internet seminars, and programs through interactive televideo (ITV).
When Kansas implemented the requirement that health care professionals participate in continuing education in the 1970s, there was concern that practitioners in rural areas would not be able to easily access these continuing education opportunities. In 1978, the State of Kansas provided money to the University of Kansas Medical Center to establish the Area Health Education Center. Since then, the KU Medical Center Area Health Education Center continues to provide quality, accessibility continuing education opportunities for rural Kansas.
The KU Medical Center Area Health Education Center works closely with the KU Medical Center Office of Continuing Education, which is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and the American Nurses Credentialing Center and it the largest provider of continuing medical education in Kansas.
