IDeA Program Objectives
What does the IDeA program do?
The NCRR awards IDeA grants to states that historically rank in the lower half of biomedical research funding from the NIH. In Kansas, IDeA grants help participating institutions with these initiatives:
- foster multidisciplinary centers with a thematic biomedical research focus,
- establish a strong communications infrastructure that connects several state institutions,
- encourage careers in biomedical research, and
- promote discoveries that leads to improvements in human health.
What does the Kansas IDeA office do to help investigators secure grants?
The IDeA office at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City monitors the NIH Web site for Requests for Applications and distributes notification, and identifies opportunities for shared equipment and building renovation grants.
