Campus Employment

Students must not work on or off campus without authorization under the USCIS regulations. On-campus employment is permitted on a part-time basis during the school semester. Part-time employment is 20 hours or less. During the semester break, no limitation is put on the number of hours a student may work.

Employment with KUMC, KU Hospital, KUMC Research Institute or KUPI is considered on-campus employment. Note that students in J-1 status can not be employed in any clinical areas which include patient contact.

Some students enroll in internship classes which require employment off-campus. In situations like this they may qualify for Curricular Practical Training.
