To honor the late Dr. David Robinson, one of KUMC's most distinguished faculty, Dr. Mani Mani, former head of the KUMC Burn Unit, and Nancy Robinson, Dr. Robinson's daughter, established the David Robinson International Studies Fund in the KU Endowment Association. The interest on the income of this Fund will be used to help sponsor students from KU Schools of Allied Health, Medicine, and Nursing who show a preference for international study at the Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore, India, and the Schefflin Leprosy Research and Training Centre in Karigiri, India. Students will spend four to nine weeks in clinics learning about health care in a very different setting and culture.
From summer 2006 through Summer 2007, three Physical Therapy, two Medical, and two Nursing students have traveled to CMC to participate in this program. Summer 2007 will see one Physical Therapy and two Occupational Therapy students in Vellore.
