Reporting to the Office of International Programs

All internationals who are sponsored by the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) are required to check in with the Office of International Programs immediately upon arriving at the University of Kansas Medical Center and before commencing any program of work, study, or research.

Such individuals must submit a passport, visa (if applicable), Form I-94, and other relevant documents as follows:

  • F-1 & F-2: I-20 processed at port of entry or for transfer

  • J-1 & J-2: DS2019 processed at port of entry or for transfer

  • H-1 & H-4: USCIS I-797 Approval Notice

In addition, all J-1 and J-2 exchange visitors are required to submit proof of insurance as mandated by the State Department (see J-1/J-2 insurance requirements) for self and all dependents present in the U.S.

Upon check in, all F1degree seeking students are required to submit a completed Immunization Form and Student Health History Form.

All degree seeking international students are required to report to Student Health Services during the check in process to schedule a Quantierferon Gold TB test.  The Quantierferon TB test (http://www.cdc.gov/TB/publications/factsheets/testing/QFT.htm) is used in diagnosing Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, including latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI), and a history of BCG vaccination does not influence the test results.  Any student with a positive test result will be mandated to complete a chest x-ray.  We will only accept Quaniterferon testing done in the United States or Canada.  The cost of the testing at KUMC is $65.00.
