Exchange Visitor Orientation

Because exchange visitors arrive on-campus through out the year, there is no set date for an exchange visitor orientation.  Instead we offer this website and other orientation tools, that the exchange visitor may choose to use, in order to assist with their adjustment and assimilation to KUMC.

Orientation Tools:

The orientation manual provides information on working at KUMC and living in Kansas City.

Life in the USA is a guest lecture series which covers topics of importance to the new arrived and experienced J-1 exchange visitor.

Lucky-Pot Dinners provide the exchange visitor the opportunity to meet other internationals and Americans from KUMC campus.  They are able to network and share experiences.

Conversation Partners provides the exchange visitor the opportunity to meet with a native speaker on a weekly basis to practice spoken English and gain insight into US culture.

Though administered by KUMC students, exchange visitors are welcome to join student groups on the KUMC campus.  These groups provide the exchange visitor to meet with their home countrymen and share information and celebrate events and holidays specific to their country.

The Department of State, Office of Exchange Coordination and Designation Compliance Unit contact information is available as an information resource.
