Following completion of the program, as indicated on the DS2019, the exchange visitor has a 30 day grace period in which to leave the United States. During this grace period the exchange visitor may not work. The grace period allows time to make departure arrangements.
If an exchange visitor will complete their program prior to the date listed on their DS2019, they should report to the Office of International Programs.
It is advisable for all exchange visitors to report to the Office of International Programs when completing a program, particularly for those individuals that would like to return to the United States at a future date as an exchange visitor or in another status.
