ESL Course Offerings for Spring 2009, Summer 2009 and Fall 2009

 Spring 2009

GSMC 835 Grammar for Scientific Communication 0 credits

  • Mondays and Wednesdays, 7:00-8:00 a.m.  January 21-May 6
  • Or Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:00-4:00 p.m.  January 20- May 7
  • Class limit 15
  • 2 hours didactic lecture and 2 hours using ESL computer lab support software.
  • Recommended for those wanting to improve grammar and writing skills.

Summer 2009

GSMC 800 Scientific Communication 2 credits

  • A hybrid class with June online and July in the classroom
  • June 09 will have online assignments that can be done after enrolling
  • July 7-July 30 Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 9:00-10:30 a.m. 
  • Class Limit: 10
  • 6 hours didactic lecture, 1 hour ESL computer lab recordings, 1 hour using ESL computer lab support software, 1 hour one-on-one review with instructor each of the four weeks in July.
  • Recommended for those taking the SPEAK test and for improving speaking skills, including pronunciation.

Fall 2009

GSMC 800 Scientific Communication 2 credits

  • Thursdays 2:00-4:00pm, August 20-December 10
  • Class Limit:15
  • 2 hours didactic lecture, 1 hour ESL computer lab recordings, 1 hour using ESL computer lab support software, 1 hour one-on-one review with instructor.
  • Recommended for those taking the SPEAK test and for improving speaking skills, including pronunciation.

GSMC 808 Scientific Communication 0 credits

  • Tuesdays, 2:00-4:00pm, August 25-December 8
  • Class Limit: 15
  • 2 hours didactic lecture, 1.5 hours ESL computer lab support software and weekly quizzes.
  • Recommended for those re-taking the TOEFL test or for boosting academic English skills.
