Kansas City -- A heart-felt welcome to the nation's heartland.

Come feel and hear the beat of the "Heart of America":

Over one hundred fifty years old, and located within 250 miles of both the geographic and population centers of the United States, Kansas City deserves its nickname, 'The Heart of America."  Our proud heritage of jazz, including the historic Eighteenth and Vine district, provides that heart with a beat you can hear and feel...

Barbeque is a favorite pastime in Kansas City. ...and taste.  Home to some of the nation's best barbecue and the nationally-known annual barbecue festival in Lenexa, our fair city will keep your taste buds hopping.

The "City of Fountains":

The J. C. Nichols fountain on the Plaza is one of our favorite landmarks. Kansas City sports literally hundreds of fountains, of all sizes.  It has been said that the city has more fountains per capita than any city in the world.  Some might disagree, but we certainly have enough beautiful pools, waterfalls, and sprays to delight all who come to see them.  A separate fountain website, maintained by the "Friends of the Fountains," provides a visual sampling for your perusal.

Large city, small town:

Nighttime view of Kansas City. Straddling the Kansas-Missouri state border, the Kansas City metropolitan area is home to about 1.9 million citizens, includes 136 cities, spans eleven counties, and covers approximately the same area as the state of Connecticut.

When people move here from other ares, they are often astounded by the kind manners of our citizens.  When merging into traffic, you have a good chance that someone will slow down and let you in.  Not many metropolitan areas can say that.

Arts and Museums:

Nelson-Atkins Museum of Fine Art.Kansas City boasts many museums, galleries, and other attractions including:

...and many more.

Sports:

Kansas City is the home of Royals baseball and Chiefs football, and is the site of the new Kansas Speedway, featuring NASCAR racing.
