Slide 9 Sperm
Sperm have a condensed nucleus in the head, a mid-piece filled with mitochondria, and a tail composed of a motile flagellum. At their highest magnification, the best light microscopes can resolve details 0.2 microns apart. To give you a perspective, find the mitochondria (about 1 micron each) in the sperm's mid-piece which are seen merely as dots.
