Speed-Dial Instructions

Speed-dial can be used for 5-digit internal calls, local Kansas City area calls, long distance or international calls. Follow the instructions below for the specific telephone set you have. To program a number into speed-dial, dial the number exactly as if you were dialing it on the phone.

A (AVAYA 6408, 6416, 6424 TELEPHONES)

Avaya 640Step 1: Press the MENU button under display.
Step 2: Press the PROG (Program) button.
Step 3: Press the button you wish to program and enter the desired speed dial number

Local: = 9 xxx xxxx
Long distance: = 9 1 area code xxx xxxx
800 number: = 9 1 800 xxx xxxx
International: = 9 011 city code country code number

Step 4: Press the # button to enter the speed dial. Press another button to program another speed dial or press EXIT to leave programming mode.



B(AVAYA 2410, 2420 TELEPHONES)

2410Step 1: Press the MENU button under the display.
Step 2: Press the SPDIAL softkey in the display.
Step 3: Press the ADD softkey in the display.
Step 4: Enter the name of the speedial using the keypad.
Step 5: Press the button next the number and enter the speeddial number.

Local: = 9 xxx xxxx
Long distance: = 9 1 area code xxx xxxx
800 number: = 9 1 800 xxx xxxx
International: = 9 011 city code country code number

Step 6: Press the SAVE softkey in the display.

C (AVAYA 4610, 4621 TELEPHONES)

4610Step 1: Press the SPDIAL softkey in the display.
Step 2: Press the ADD softkey in the display.
Step 3: Enter the name of the speedial using the keypad.
Step 4: Press the DONE softkey in the display..
Step 5: Enter the number of the speedial using the keypad.

Long distance: = 9 1 area code xxx xxxx
800 number: = 9 1 800 xxx xxxx
International: = 9 011 city code country code number

Step 6: Press the SAVE softkey in the display.

D (AVAYA 9620, 9630 TELEPHONES)

9610Step 1: Press the CONTACTS button under the display..
Step 2: Press the NEW softkey in the display.
Step 3: Enter the name of the speedial using the keypad. Press the down arrow.
Step 4: Enter the number of the speedial using the keypad.

 
 
Local: = 9 xxx xxxx
Long distance: = 9 1 area code xxx xxxx
800 number: = 9 1 800 xxx xxxx
International: = 9 011 city code country code number

Step 6: Press the SAVE softkey in the display.

E (AT&T DIGITAL TELEPHONES)

Find the PROGRAM button (usually in the right column). Normally, all buttons below the PROGRAM button in the right column are speed-dial. If the PROGRAM button is located in the upper half of the button (darker gray-shaded area), press the SHIFT or SELECT (above the transfer button) button first, then the PROGRAM button.
To put a speed dial number on the BOTTOM HALF OF THE BUTTON:

Step 1: Press the SPEAKER button; you should hear a dial tone.
Step 2: Press the PROGRAM button.
Step 3: Press the button where you wish speed-dial to reside.
Step 4: Dial the telephone number:

Local: = 9 xxx xxxx
Long distance: = 9 1 area code xxx xxxx
800 number: = 9 1 800 xxx xxxx
International: = 9 011 city code country code number

Step 5: Press the button where speed-dial is to reside a 2nd time to save.
Step 6: Repeat steps 1-5 for each button to be programmed.

To put a speed dial number on the UPPER HALF OF THE BUTTON:

Step 1: Press the SPEAKER button; you should hear a dial tone.
Step 2: Press the PROGRAM button.
Step 3: Press the SHIFT or SELECT button and then press the button where speed-dial is to reside.
Step 4: Dial the telephone number:

Local: = 9 xxx xxxx
Long distance: = 9 1 area code xxx xxxx
800 number: = 9 1 800 xxx xxxx
International: = 9 011 city code country code number

Step 5: Press the SHIFT or SELECT button, press the button where speed-dial is to reside a 2nd time to save.
Step 6: Repeat the steps above for each button to be programmed. To change a speed-dial number, complete steps 1-5.

To blank a speed-dial number, repeat steps 1, 2, & 3, but skip 4 & 5. This saves a blank (no number) onto the speed-dial button


F (AT&T DIGITAL TELEPHONES)

Find the PROGRAM button (usually the top button of the first column to right of the dial pad). Normally, all buttons below and to the right of the PROGRAM button are set up as speed-dial.
To put a speed dial number on the bottom half of the button:

Step 1: Press the SPEAKER button; you should hear a dial tone.
Step 2: Press the PROGRAM button.
Step 3: Press the button where you wish speed-dial to reside.
Step 4: Dial the telephone number:

Local: = 9 xxx xxxx
Long distance: = 9 1 area code xxx xxxx
800 number: = 9 1 800 xxx xxxx
International: = 9 011 city code country code number

Step 5: Press the button where speed-dial is to reside a 2nd time to save.
Step 6: Repeat steps1-5 for each button to be programmed. To change a speed-dial number, complete steps 1-5 and the old number will be overwritten.

To blank a speed-dial number, repeat steps 1, 2, & 3. This saves a blank onto the speed-dial button.


G (AT&T DIGITAL TELEPHONES)

Find the PROGRAM button (usually just right of the dial pad). Normally, all buttons below and to the right of the PROGRAM button are set up as speed-dial.

Step 1: Lift the handset and press a line button; you should hear a dial tone.
Step 2: Press the PROGRAM button.
Step 3: Press the button where you wish speed-dial to reside.
Step 4: Dial the telephone number:

Local: = 9 xxx xxxx
Long distance: = 9 1 area code xxx xxxx
800 number: = 9 1 800 xxx xxxx
International: = 9 011 city code country code number

Step 5: Press the button where speed-dial is to reside a 2nd time.
Step 6: Repeat the steps above for each button to be programmed. To change a speed-dial number, complete steps 1-5 and the old number will be overwritten.

H (PANASONIC FEATURE TELEPHONES)

With the handset in the cradle and the SP-PHONE button off:

Step 1: Press the PROG button until beep is heard. The display will show "program_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ".
Step 2: Press the LOWER* button, and then press the STATION button (speed-dial button).
Step 3: Dial 9, then press the button, then dial the telephone number.

Local: = 9 xxx xxxx
Long distance: = 9 1 area code xxx xxxx
800 number: = 9 1 800 xxx xxxx
International: = 9 011 city code country code number

Step 4: Press the STORE button.
Step 5: When finished storing the number, press the PROG button to end. (You may store all numbers at one time before pressing the PROG button if you so choose.)

FAX MACHINES AND MODEMS

Because there are many different manufacturers of fax machines and modems on the KUMC campus, you will need to consult the product owners manual for the specifics on how to change the speed-dial on your fax or modem.
