Our Services Overview
Teaching and Learning Technologies provides a number of audio and video devices for presentation purposes. All equipment is deliverable within most areas of the main campus.
Blackboard's fully online courses provide both you and your students with a convenient and effective learning environment, anytime and anywhere. The hybrid courses, where some class time is face-to-face and other time spent learning online, allow you to select the most effective delivery method for the various activities in your course. Web-enhanced courses meet face-to-face, but include a Blackboard course site to enhance course content and activities, such as online access to PowerPoints, a gradebook, or between-class discussions.
The TLT-Media Scheduling Department is your first point of contact for any room service or reservation request you may need. Our schedulers are dedicated to finding the solution that will fit your event needs, and handle over 40,000 reservations per year. Scheduling inquiries and requests may be submitted by phone (x87326) or email. For purposes of efficiency, it is recommended that requests be sent by email or through our online room request form.
Have your paper surveys or course evaluations converted to or have new online surveys or evaluations. We will design the questionnaire, deploy e-mail notifications to participants, manage the collected data, and report the results for your evaluation or survey.
Each semester, we select two faculty who are doing exemplary things with technology in their courses, and they explain and demonstrate those uses to faculty from all the KUMC schools. Our Exemplary Courses program is based on similar work by Faseyitan, Libii, & Hirschbuhl (1996), which showed that faculty showcases of technology use improved computer self-efficacy by providing verbal persuasion and vicarious experiences.
Our learning spaces at the University of Kansas Medical Center are designed to accommodate mobility and flexibility of student-centered learning activities. These spaces are carefully designed with flexible furniture and technology to facilitate interactions both for large and small classrooms and individual/group study spaces. The learning spaces are equipped with technologies ranging from ITV capabilities, interactive displays, upgraded wireless bandwidth, recording appliances, and use of Catch Boxes (toss-able microphones).
Teaching and Learning Technologies strives to provide the KUMC campus community with the latest video technologies. We are dedicated to providing you quality productions, and superb customer service, while maintaining an affordable rate. We currently have a complete assortment of professional quality digital video equipment, as well as a staff with decades of combined video production experience.
Panopto provides teachers and learners the ability to create recordings for a variety of purposes. Most recordings are made for reviewing lectures, but Panopto can also be used to create pre-class videos, instructional videos, class assignments, and demonstrations. Panopto has the ability to capture eight different video streams, allows users to edit their videos online, and lets users share their recordings either publically or privately. Live streaming of events is also possible with Panopto.
Poll Everywhere is a web-based response system that allows you to assess, survey, and obtain feedback from your audience. Poll Everywhere gives you the option to embed multiple choice questions, audience generated word clouds, and clickable images directly into your presentation for an interactive experience.
Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor are tools integrated with Blackboard to improve security for online testing. Respondus Lockdown Browser is a customized browser that secures a student's testing environment within Blackboard. Respondus Monitor adds an additional layer of security by providing automated proctoring using a student's own webcam.
The Computer Testing Center (CTC) is located in the Dykes Library. With seating for up to 190 students, group testing in a secure environment is a high priority. The main rooms (G026 and G027) allow seating for 60 students per room, for a total of 120. Three additional classrooms are also available that can seat 18, 24, or 31 students. For students who meet ADA requirement, single-station rooms are available that can be used for extended testing.
KUMC has two solutions for web conferencing: Blackboard Collaborate Ultra and Adobe Connect. Both provide excellent ways to communicate with your participants, but they serve two different purposes. Collaborate Ultra is geared more toward education and student engagement, while Adobe Connect will be for meetings that will facilitate the sharing of sensitive or private information.
