InCommon Federation

KUMC is a member of the InCommon federation, which allows users from other institutions to authenticate to resources located on our local network, and allow our users to authenticate to resources located on other networks using their local KUMC network userid/password.

InCommon uses a federated identity system called Shibboleth. While it enables authentication and authorization, each resource needs to have a pluggable authentication method; programming and/or vendor participation may be required.
