Research Assistant Professor in Kansas City, Kansas
The Research Track emphases conduct of research in all relevant areas, basic sciences, clinical investigations, health policy, health care outcomes, or history and philosophy of medicine. Teaching and/or service related to faculty member's research program is expected. Conduct and participate in community health research in primary health care settings with the goal of expanding the body of clinical and applied research occurring in primary care settings with community participatory research methodologies. Collaborate with investigators in multidisciplinary teams (i.e. family medicine, preventative medicine, public health, health policy) to develop research activities. Manage data collection, analysis and project evaluation activities. Use data analysis software such as NVIVO, SPPS. Use health informatic tools, including qualitative research. Write and submit grant applications to agencies that seek support for research. Author and co-author manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed scientific and medical journals. Attend and assist in community health events and use social media to promote events and generate interest and feedback. Provide expertise in strategic and health communication to intervention/prevention efforts. Provide a cross-cultural, inter-cultural perspective to work conducted with minority populations. Engage and collaborate with minority community members in addressing community health issues. Teach basic research methods and public health to the department residents. This will involve quarterly 3 hour workshops as well as mentorship of residents completing required 3rd year research project activities. Teach graduate level health and communication courses. Attend faculty and staff meetings. Perform other duties as assigned. PhD. in Health Sciences, Health Communication or related field. Demonstrated ability with qualitative research skills and related software (SPSS, NVIVO). Demonstrated ability with social media platforms.
Preferred qualifications: Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. $49,390 - 70,000/yr.
