HIPAA At KUMC


HIPAA Training

Please choose from the modules listed below, based on your employer and role at KUMC. Your supervisor or administrator can provide further information about the module(s) required for your position.

University Employees and/or Students

  1. Logon to myKUMC portal.
  2. Enter your KUMC network account username and password. This is the same information you use to login to the network when you turn on your computer.
  3. Click the "Training" tab.
  4. In the box labeled "Chalk" on the right of your screen you will see a list of the online training courses available to you in CHALK. Select the option "Human Subjects Protection". Based on the descriptions provided, you will need to select either the "Human Subjects Protection Tutorial" or the "Human Subjects Protection Refresher Tutorial".

Guest Access

If you do not have a KUMC Groupwise account, contact one of the following staff members in the Office of Compliance for an account or click here for the Chalk Courtesy User Request Form. Guest Accounts are only for individuals not formally affiliated with KUMC who need access the Chalk online training system. Office of Compliance must authorize access before an account is created. If you are an employee or student at KUMC, please request an account through your department contact. Please note it can take up to three days to obtain a KUMC Courtesy network account.

HIPAA Training for Classified and Unclassified KUMC Employees

This training is for classified and unclassified KUMC employees whose duties do not involve clinical care or human research.

 

 

HIPAA Training for Health Care Providers


This training is required for health care providers at KUMC, including physicians, residents, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and allied health professionals who bill for their services.

HIPPA Training for Vendors Without Direct Patient Contact

This training may be required for vendors who work in patient care areas but do not have patient contact. Please consult with your KUMC contact to determine whether this training is necessary.

HIPAA Training for KUMC Deans, Basic Scientists, and Department Directors

 

This training provides an overview of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and discusses its impact on the clinical, education and research missions of KU Medical Center. It is targeted for deans, chairs and faculty in the basic sciences and directors of non-clinical units at KUMC.

This training is for all workforce members of the Hospital.
