PLAY GROUPPhilosophyThe Hartley Family Center Play Group centers around a cognitive curriculum with a strong communication component. The framework includes activities that support and build social, motor, and self-help skill development. These activities are child-directed allowing the Family Center team to build upon rather than direct or control the thoughts and actions of each child. Families are considered a part of the team. During play group activities, we respect each family's decision regarding their form of communication. The Family Center believes each child is part of a family. As each child is part of a family, HFC encourages parents and caregivers to include siblings in play group sessions. |
