Genome Sequencing Facility

Mission Statement

The Kansas University Medical Center - Genome Sequencing Facility (GSF) was established by the Kansas University School of Medicine and operates in partnership with the Smith Intellectual and Developemental Disabilities Research Center (SIDDRC) NICHD HD02528, the Kansas University Medical Center - Microarray Facility ( KUMC-MF ) and the Kansas University Medical Center - Biotechnology Support Facility ( BSF ). The mission of the Genome Sequencing Facility is to provide centralized access to Next Generation sequencing technology for the advancement of research conducted by Investigators of KUMC, Kansas Regents Institutions and member institutions of the Kansas City Area Life Science Initiative ( KCALSI ).

About the Genome Sequencing Facility

The Kansas University Medical Center has established the Genome Sequencing Facility featuring the Illumina HiSeq 2000 Sequencing System. Utilizing the HiSeq System , Investigators can accelerate their research by performing large-scale sequencing studies on complex genomes, transcriptomes and epigenomes. The Genome Sequencing Facility operates in conjunction with KUMC Bioinformatics Core, allowing for coordination of sequence data analysis between the Investigator and Bioinformatic Specialists.
