As the incidence of diabetes in the world continues to rise, so does the pressing
need to identify additional therapeutic interventions for the treatment and
prevention of insulin resistance. Our research group focuses on elucidating
the mechanisms by which heat stress improves insulin action and glucose regulation
in skeletal muscle, as well as identifying additional therapeutic targets for
the treatment of insulin resistance. We strive to play an integral role in
the prevention and treatment of the complex genetic and lifestyle disease that
is diabetes and to contribute to its current and future management and its
eventual cure.
