Students will design a pamphlet to inform and educate people about an inherited disease or disorder.
- Student Objective(s):
To inform others of facts about human disease, to explain social and ethical implications, and to create, display and explain information to classmates.
- Description of Activities:
Students will research and construct a pamphlet that includes: symptoms of disease, genetic cause of disease, genetic testing, population/risk, possible treatment, genetic screening techniques, social and ethical implications, cost and % disease in ethnic groups and how it relates to HGP.
- Integration (tying it all together):
Math, show graphs, data; English, writing skills; Communication, explaining facts to others; Research, finding current information; Social Science, relationship to location/populations
