Frequently Asked Questions

Question: How does Landscape Services decide what flowers to plant at each location?
Answer: Plantings are determined by adaptability, care requirements, and visual impact. Decisions are made in December and orders placed in January to ensure plant availability.

Question: Does Landscape Services use any "organic" chemicals?
Answer: Milorganite, an organic soil ammendment, is used on several lawns and all annual plantings. Several "environmentally friendly" insecticides are also used.

Question: What does Landscape Services do to help protect the environment?
Answer: All mowers have been converted to mulching mowers and are used in this capacity, when applicable, to curtail landfill waste. No mowing is done on "Red Aert" days. Additionally, turf weed and pest control is on an as-needed basis versus blanket preventative applications.

Question: Are the chemicals used by Landscape Services for snow and ice removal environmentally friendly?
Answer: We use the following products in various amounts and combinations to maximize effectiveness in snow and ice removal while minimizing the impact on the local environment. We also stay current on the latest research for new products that will be more environmentally friendly and still maintain our required level of efficiency.

  • Potassium Chloride
  • Magnesium Chloride
  • Magnesium Acetate
  • Calcium Magnesium Acetate

Question: Are the chemicals used by Landscape Services for snow and ice removal damaging to vehicle paint?
Answer: Not in the short term, but winter "roadwash" should always be periodically removed from your vehicle.
