Jayne Owen

Jayne Owen, Director

Since coming to KUMC in 1980, Jayne has held various management and leadership positions in the Human Resources Department and the Equal Opportunity Office (EOO). In April 2002, she became director of the EOO. Jayne has a BA in Anthropology, an MPA and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). She is a member of the society for Human Resources Management and the American Association for Affirmative Action.

As Director, Jayne's responsibilities include:

  • Administering the University's AA/EO and ADA/504 compliance programs, including formulating policies and procedures, preparing federally mandated reports, establishing internal auditing and reporting mechanisms and providing education and training to the KUMC community
  • Managing the institution's discrimination complaint procedure including facilitating informal resolution, investigating complaints and recommending administrative responses
  • Monitoring changes in nondiscrimination laws, judicial interpretations and agency guidance
  • Advising and consulting with University administrators who are responsible for ensuring the success of the AA/EO/ADA compliance program
  • Directing the activities and staff of the EOO
  • Serving on the Diversity Advisory Committee

Carol Wagner

Carol Wagner, Equal Opportunity/Disability Specialist

Carol has worked in a variety of departments and positions since coming to KUMC in 1984. Her first several years were spent directing the Human Resource offices in the Facilities Maintenance and Nursing Services departments. She then joined the University's Human Resource department and, in keeping with one of her main interests, began working with employees with disabilities. She became the Equal Opportunity/Disability Specialist in 1998.

Carol has a BA in Sociology/Psychology, and an MPA in Public Administration with emphasis in Health Services Administration and Personnel/Industrial Relations

Her interest in disability services began in the the 1980's. As a rehabilitation counselor, Carol helped her clients focus on their abilities rather than the limitations of their disabilities.

Carol is a member of the Association of Higher Education and Disability, and the American Association of Affirmative Action.

As the Equal Opportunity/Disability Specialist, Carol is responsible for a variety of duties, including:

  • Implementing ADA/504 compliance program and overseeing compliance activities
  • Managing the disability accommodation process and coordinating provision of accommodations for employees, students and residents
  • Assisting with intake and investigation of complaints of discrimination and/or harassment on the basis of a protected class
  • Conducting EO/ADA training and orientation programs
  • Coordinating development and maintenance of EOO Web site
  • Responding to inquiries and providing advice on EO rights and responsibilities

Carol loves the outdoors, and you will find her hiking, biking, camping and gardening when she's not at work. Carol's professional goal is to serve in a leadership position in higher education. LuVina Davis

 

LuVina Davis, Equal Opportunity/Compliance Specialist

LuVina has worked at KUMC since 1996 and has been with the Equal Opportunity Office sine 1998. She has an MBA and is a member of the American Association of Affirmative Action.

In her role as Equal Opportunity/Compliance Specialist, she is responsible for a variety of duties including:

  • Preparing workforce profiles, utilization analyses, applicant flow and adverse impact analysis: preparing the annual AA Plan and VETS 100 reports
  • Overseeing acquisition, management and compilation of applicant and employee information in regards to recruitment and selection
  • Assisting with intake and investigation of complaints of discrimination and/or harassment
  • Representing the EOO at employee/student/resident orientations: assisting with training regarding equal opportunity and affirmative action

Alex Stacks
Compliance Program Assistant

Alex joined the EOO as a Program Assistant in October of 2007. She completed her BS in Business Administration in 2006 from Emporia State University. Her interest in employment issues began while interning for the Division of Personnel Services, for the State of Kansas. Alex’s responsibilities include:

    • Assist with design and delivery of EOO training and education programs
    • Update, distribute and coordinate University compliance requirements for EO/AA/ADA
    • Coordinate all arrangements for student, resident and intern testing accommodations
