EEOC Issues Guidance to Prevent Discrimination of Working Caregivers
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recently issued its first guidance for employers regarding care giver-related concerns. As the number of employees with elder and child care demands grows, more workers are filing lawsuits claiming they’ve been discriminated against on the job because of their family care giving obligations. According to EEOC guidelines, discrimination against care giving employees may violate Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
