Training Overview

NOTE: The University of Kansas Medical Center launched an intranet on June 20, 2016 to provide easier access to information and tools used by our faculty and staff. Valid KU Medical Center network credentials are required to access the intranet.

Many of the forms and procedures for EHS have been relocated to the intranet. If you are affiliated with another institution and are interested in collaborating or learning more about our procedures, please contact Ryan Lickteig.

Initial and periodic training is required by many Federal and State regulations. In addition, the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) and the University of Kansas Hospital require employee training so personnel can carry out their jobs safely and efficiently. Here is a list of mandatory trainings.  For the most part, KUMC uses The Learning Connection (TLC) for safety training for its availability and ease of tracking.

Instructions for completing Safety Training online using TLC for University, UKP and Research Institute employees and students:

  1. Go to the TLC Training website.
  2. Check on any trainings you have been enrolled in listed under the tab "My Learning" by clicking on "My To Do List"
  3. Pass any associated exams.  Note that the exam will often be separate from the module.  It will usually be listed as an icon as "1 exam"
  4. If you need to enroll yourself in a training, search for the training under the keyword search under the "Catelog" tab.  Once you have found the appropriate training, click on "enroll" and you will be enrolled in that course.  Take the training as described in items 2 and 3 above.

In Person Training Schedule: When necessary, arrangements can be made to train groups of employees on individual topics.
