Adrenal cortex region. A connective tissue capsule (upper field) with attenuated fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells covers the gland. Beneath the capsule are one to two layers of cells forming the zona glomerulosa, and the rest of the field is occupied by cells of the zona fasciculata. Two sections of fenestrated capillaries are shown.
