Diabetes Education and Training Classes


As with all health care, there is a fee for each of these services, except as noted.

Classes are limited to established patients of University of Kansas Medical Center.


Group Education

Diabetes self-management course includes two 3-4 hour sessions held the 3rd and 4th Wednesdays of the month.
Medicine Classroom, 1107 University of Kansas Hospital
Pre-registration is required.

The comprehensive course is presented by health care professionals and is an ADA recognized program. Class times must be scheduled in advance. To schedule, call 913-588-3960 or come by the Cray Diabetes Center, 1116 University of Kansas Hospital

Support Group/Education

Last Tuesday of every other month
1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Medicine Classroom, 1107 University of Kansas Hospital
No pre-registration is required.

Health care professionals will provide information and facilitate discussion of pertinent diabetes topics. There is no charge for this group and walk-ins are welcome!

Cuting Costs

Blood Glucose Meter Clinic

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday

No pre-registration is required.

A Diabetes Nurse Educator is available to instruct on the use of your blood glucose meter, solve problems with your present meter, or to help you obtain a new meter. No appointment is needed; but it's best to call before to ensure availability.

Dietary Education (by a Registered Dietician)

Dietary education is available to established patients of the Diabetes Clinic, must be scheduled in advance through the Cray Diabetes Center. See the receptionist or call 913-588-3960 for scheduling.
