Institutional Research and Safety Committee (IRSC) Overview

The Institutional Research and Safety Committee (IRSC) is the cornerstone of the KUMC institutional system for oversight of recombinant DNA research. It interacts closely with the Human Subjects Committee, for human subject research, and the Instituional Animal Care and Use Committee, for research in animals, to ensure that such research is conducted in a manner consistent with the biosafety practices outlined in the National Institute of Health Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA Molecules.
