Community Project Student Group Award

This award recognizes KU Medical Center student organizations for an outstanding community service project to a rural or underserved community. One student organization is chosen each academic year to receive the $1,000 award.

All registered student organizations at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KU School of Medicine in Salina and KU School of Medicine in Wichita are eligible. This award is administered by the Division of Student Services.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applying organizations must be a registered student organization through the Office of Student Life at the University of Kansas Medical Center during the 2012-2013 academic year.
  • Organizations are eligible to receive this award annually.
  • The project undertaken by the organization must have benefited underserved citizens in Kansas.

Application Process

A completed application packet will include:

  • Community Project Award application
  • At least two (and no more than four) letters of support submitted on the organization's behalf. One letter of support must be from a community member who discusses the benefit of the project to the community.

Complete application packets must be sumbitted online by Friday, March 1, 2013 at 4 p.m. Incomplete packets will not be accepted. The award winner will be recognized at the Student Leader Reception on April 23, 2013, from 3-5 p.m. in the School of Nursing Atrium.

Instructions

Student organizations wishing to apply should complete the application through their login on The Beat. All pieces of the application, including the letters of support, must be received at the same time and all information submitted will be shared with members of the awards committee.
