How Telemedicine Works

We provide clinical telemedicine services that connect patients and health practitioners throughout Kansas. Many hospitals and clinics across the state are equipped with video conferencing systems that allow providers to collaborate with KU Center for Telemedicine & Telehealth for specialty clinical consults.

The KU Center for Telemedicine & Telehealth has provided consults to patients across Kansas in more than 30 medical specialties, including:
  • Autism Diagnosis
  • Cardiology
  • Diet & Nutrition
  • Oncology / Hematology
  • Pain Management
  • Pediatrics
  • Psychiatry
  • Psychology

Clinical telemedicine consults are a convenient and cost-effective means to provide health care. They can occur in many settings, including clinics, physicians' offices, community centers, schools and long-term care facilities. Services provided include routine follow-up care, in-depth therapy, medication management, or even multidisciplinary conferences for difficult diagnostic challenges.
