Eve-Lynn Nelson, PhD, is the Director of the KU Center for Telemedcine & Telehealth at Kansas University Medical Center and administers all telehealth projects, research activities, and daily operations of the department. In this role, Dr. Nelson establishes and implements the Center's clinical, educational, and technological priorities for the provision of telemedicine service and health information technology (HIT) initiatives in Kansas communities. In addition, she has a joint appointment as Associate Professor in the KUMC Pediatrics department. She began at KU Medical Center after completing her internship at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital, and graduating from the clinical psychology program at the University of Kansas in 2002.

Dr. Nelson's research has focused on health services delivery using telemedicine, particularly telemental health. She has served as Principal Investigator and evaluator on several federal and foundation grant-supported research projects, including a randomized trial of childhood depression treatment over interactive televideo, an evaluation of provider-patient communication using telemedicine, an evaluation of home telehealth for lactation support, and studies of team-based telemedicine clinics for ADHD, youth depression, and autism. She is currently the PI on two federal grant-funded research projects integrating distance education and telemedicine services for geriatric populations and for pediatric epilepsy. She also leads a SAMHSA project evaluating telemedicine and virtual world technologies for substance abuse treatment and prevention among rural college students.  She is a co-investigator on a NIMH evaluation of telemedicine diagnosis of autism in young children. She frequently speaks concerning telemental health and its outcome, practice, and policy and served as co-chair for the American Telemedicine Association's telemental health guidelines. Dr. Nelson is the clinical provider and supervisor for several telemental health clinics, including a multidisciplinary training clinic treating children with depression over telemedicine. The telemedicine clinics provide service across urban and rural Kansas schools and in other pediatric clinics. She teachers and supervises for the University of Kansas clinical psychology graduate program and KUMC School of Nursing.
