Women in Health Care: The Next Generation

Hanna Silverthorne at Women in Health Care 2010

The KU Medical Center Area Health Education Center has created an exciting program exclusive to female high school students in Kansas. Women in Health Care: The Next Generation was created as a way to encourage women to become leaders in health care.

The event is typically held during the first week of November, however, the 2018 dates have not yet been set. Please check back later.

This exciting three-day program takes about 10 Kansas high school junior and senior female students who have shown a strong interest and commitment to health care careers and provides them with the opportunity to interact with health professions students and faculty at KU Medical Center. Through this program, the students have the chance to explore the world of medicine and health care.

The AHEC has partnered with KU Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) to create a unique opportunity for the participants. The students chosen to participate in this year's event will have the opportunity to spend time with KU Medical Center student leaders.
