Annual Community Leader Award presented to student Vusala Snyder

Vusala is an active participant in community-based service organizations and has assisted immigrant women and children with their needs for healthcare. She has provided translation services, transportation services, as well as general patient education resources working with them in their native tongue.
Vusala has demonstrated a firm commitment to representing underserved community members at large and organizing many outreach events to raise awareness of the current issues. As a middle school liaison for the Pembroke Hill Diversity and Parent Education committee, she coordinated programming for the parent community to provide information and facilitate discussion about current developmental and social issues, with at least one event per year addressing aspects of diversity in community.
As a third-year medical student Vusala is an active participant in research projects and has served in several executive positions in her academic life. Her capacity to work hard, maintain a healthy work-life balance, be a model student and her leadership exemplifies her potential to become an outstanding medical professional.
