We Work for Kansas

brainAs a sub-unit of the University of Kansas Medical Center’s Institute for Community Engagement, KU Medical Center Continuing Education & Professional Development designs, develops and implements community-building initiatives that positively impact communities throughout Kansas.

Whether we are strengthening the health care workforce in underserved communities, researching to improve the health of Kansans, advancing access to health care or any of our other key initiatives, the Institute for Community Engagement and KU Medical Center Continuing Education & Professional Development are working for Kansans. Visit the Institute for Community Engagement for more exciting news about how our work is impacting the lives of people across Kansas.

Continuing Education & Professional Development initiatives

Engagement initiatives led by groundbreaking advancements in training delivery seek to improve health care practice and delivery throughout the state, including rural areas lacking access to advanced training opportunities.

Examples of our initiatives include:

  • Sepsis education program led by Steven Simpson, M.D.
  • Diabetes initiative
  • Drug abuse and pain management

Our disaster preparedness and anti-terror initiatives provide profession-specific training from field experts to emergency first responders, medical personnel, crisis communicators, civic leaders and others from agencies throughout the Midwest.

By constantly monitoring the needs of health care providers throughout Kansas, Continuing Education & Professional Development is able to provide training that fills those needs.
