Construction update: View the Health Education Building progress report for week ending Nov. 13. Concrete work is slated to start the week of Nov. 16.

Faculty and staff appreciation event: The KU Med Store Bookstore is hosting an employee appreciation event, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, and Friday, Dec. 4, G014 Orr-Major. Holiday charities: View a list of opportunities for employees and students to support charitable efforts during the holidays. New opportunities include Kirmayer's Hustle for Harvesters food drive and free community workout, shopping event at the STUFF store in Brookside and Barnes & Noble book drive to benefit KU Pediatrics' Reach Out and Read program. KU basketball tickets: Kansas Jayhawks Athletics is offering KU Medical Center a special ticket opportunity for the KU men's basketball game against Loyola, 7 p.m., Dec. 1. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Contact Megan Norkunas in Athletics at 785-864-6220 for ticket prices and more information.

Blood drive results: A big thank you to all of the blood donors at the main campus, who continue to turn out in big numbers for the monthly drives. The Nov. 4 blood drive set a one-day record, collecting 103 pints of blood which surpassed the previous one-day record of 80 pints in 2013. Read more.

International Relations Council events: The Office of International Programs has a university membership that allows KU Medical Center faculty, staff and students to attend International Relations Council (IRC) events for free or a reduced charge. "Technology: Empowering Refugees, Changing Refugee Camps," a timely discussion on the refugee crisis and how information technology is used in refugee camps, will be 5:30–7:30 p.m., Nov. 17, Pembroke Hill School. Nov. 19: National Rural Health Day, 1–2 p.m., Murphy lobby. Stop by any time during the hour for a reception and photography voting. Read more.

Nov. 19: Last Flu Stop Clinic, 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Hixson Atrium. Go to the Dispense Assist website to complete your consent form to receive a flu voucher. Take your voucher and employee badge to receive a free flu shot.

Nov. 26–27: No shuttle service for the Thanksgiving holiday. Parking will be open color zones. Contact Kevin Rowald with questions.

Dec. 17: Save the date for the Tis the Season employee holiday lunch, 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m., Beller Conference Center. More information on the menu and non-profit organizations to come.
