KUMC parking rate increases and new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) parking policy will take effect on July 1. Rate increases apply to all KUMC parking garages and surface lots as well as visitor and ADA parking. The last rate change took place in 2011, so these increases are necessary to sustain parking security, cleaning and maintenance and to perform upgrades and repairs like repaving and re-graveling. We'll keep you posted on all the parking enhancements.
Parking garages and surface lots
The increase for lots and garages is minimal. For example, Yellow Lot rates will go from $97.65 to $100, Bluff Garage from $324.45 to $330, and Olathe Garage from $711.90 to $720 - all annually.
Visitor parking rates will be simplified to be in whole dollar increments only. For the first 15 minutes, parking is free. After that, it will be $1 for every 30 minutes, up to $6 in a 24-hour period. The patient validation rate will remain at $2.
Monthly ADA parking
If you are an ADA parker, you will need to register with parking services and provide proof of ADA eligibility in your name to receive an ADA decal for your vehicle. The annual fee will be $100.
Visitor ADA parking
ADA parkers utilizing the garages, regardless if you're registered as a monthly ADA parker or not, will be charged $1 per exit. ADA parkers will have to verify the state-issued ADA hanger or license plate.
The new rates and updated ADA policy can be found on the parking services website. While you're there, be sure to check out the new parking website featuring interactive parking maps.
