Compliance window for 2015

Mark your calendars for the 2015 compliance window, which will be Aug. 18-Sept. 17. You will receive an email Aug. 18 with instructions on how to complete your compliance training. Everyone will be expected to complete their training by the Sept. 17 deadline in order to keep their computer access.

For personnel who work on human subjects research: The university's compliance window is also the time to complete training in human subjects protection if your training is due this fiscal year. The Human Research Protection Program is now using online training from CITI (Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative housed at the University of Miami). Sept. 17 is the completion deadline for personnel whose last training was completed before July 1, 2012. For more information, visit the HRPP Training website.

SharePoint 2013 Upgrade

KU Medical Center's SharePoint service is upgrading to SharePoint 2013 the weekend of Aug. 15. New features and enhancements include:

  •  Better browser support for non-Internet Explorer users (including Macs)
  •  Document upload using drag and drop
  •  Improved search and navigation
  •  Easier task management

You may sign up now for SharePoint training. What's New in SharePoint 2013, SharePoint 2013 Basics, and SharePoint 2013 Site Owner courses are available on the IR Training calendar. If you would like to review the SharePoint 2013 training materials, visit the SharePoint training site.

Children's Miracle Network Miracle Marathon

Commit to get healthy and help kids who are being taken care of right here at KU Medical Center by joining the Children's Miracle Network Miracle Marathon! This is a marathon anyone can do – it is virtual and on-demand.

For 26 days (Sept. 12–Oct. 12), you will move the equivalent of one mile every day. You can walk, bike, run, swim or take part in any activity to achieve that one mile per day. On the 27th day, you will go 1.2 miles for a total of 27.2 miles (that extra mile is "for the kids"). The best part is that you can complete your miles any time, any place, with anyone.

The most important part of the Miracle Marathon is that you will be raising funds for our KU Pediatrics department. In the spirit of friendly competition, you're encouraged to have a contest between departments. Register your team today. Select KS-KU Medical Center as your hospital, recruit members of your department to join your team and then let the fundraising begin. You will be making a difference while getting healthier and having fun at the same time.

If you have any questions, please call Children's Miracle Network at 913-588-9100 or visit the Miracle Marathon website.
