Credit Unions for Kids

As the second highest fundraising sponsor in the Kansas City area, Credit Unions for Kids continue to inspire with their caring and compassionate support of Children’s Miracle Network. On October 20th, local credit unions from both Kansas and Missouri gathered together for the 5th Annual Kansas City and Wy-Jo Chapter Meeting and Appreciation Dinner to recognize those who helped make the annual Tee Off for Tots Golf Tournament a success. Champion Child Weston Funk and his parents Randy and Regina joined the celebration to share their story as well as their gratitude for the credit unions dedication to our local children’s hospitals. This year the area Credit Unions have again increased their contribution to Children’s Miracle Network, together raising more than $118,000! Thank you to the employees and members for your enthusiastic commitment, and on-going, ever increasing support for helping children in our community!

Our local Great Clips salons do much more than just give great haircuts….They also give time and money to help foster hopes and cures for our local kids. To raise money for Children’s Miracle Network, 20 participating salons sold Miracle balloons during the Great Needs, Great Deeds month in October. It was an outstanding month! Thank you for your inspiring dedication and commitment to our mission of helping children in the community! A special thank you to Kansas City Co-Op president Ruth Ann Grimsley for her enthusiasm and support!

KU Students Host Karving for Kids Fund-raiser

The week before Halloween, the KU DanceMarathon students held a pumpkin carving/decorating contest on campus. The event was the brainchild of the special events committee, chaired by Ms. Claire Williams, a senior. Wal-Mart donated 115 pumpkins and more than 70 people attended the event. Students had the option of making a donation and decorating the pumpkin as they wished. The event raised $375 and the students were anticipating receiving even more donations!
