Program Overview: KUMC Core Competencies
Our classroom training provides learning experiences that emphasize the core competencies of building strong health-care cooperation through teamwork and excellent interprofessional communication skills. We seek to capitalize on the unique roles and responsibilities of professions by highlighting the values and ethics necessary to provide patient-centered care.
Values and Ethics
Work with patients and individuals of other health professions to maintain a climate of mutual respect, in the provision of patient centered care.
Roles and Responsibilities
Use the knowledge of one's own role and those of other professions to appropriately assess and address the healthcare needs of the patients and populations served.
Communication
Communicate with patients, families, communities and other health professionals in a responsive and responsible manner that supports a team approach to patient/population centered car.
Teamwork
Provide effective interprofessional team based care that is patient/population centered, safe, timely, efficient, effective and equitable.
