Our primary focus is on health disparities in Native communities and providing educational opportunities for Native students.
We run several initiatives to combat health issues in the communities we serve. Some of these include environmental screenings of individual's homes, health screening clinics, weight loss programs, and smoking cessation programs. Our team members regularly travel to the four reservations in Kansas and others, such as the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation in South Dakota, to administer health screenings to populations in need and provide other services. We also provide scholarship and internship opportunities to Native students and students who are interested in working with American Indian communities. Throughout the internship, interns contribute to our various projects and even have the opportunity to publish in academic journals.
We also provide them with extensive opportunities to be out in the community interacting with the people we serve. Over the course of the summer, interns travel to the four reservations in Kansas and Eagle Butte, South Dakota, to participate in community service projects with American Indian youth.
Donations will help us continue the internship and scholarship program, possibly even allowing us to send students to college or graduate school, all expenses paid.
