  • James P. Calvet, Ph.D., is the 2009 recipient of the Chancellor's Club award for research for his work on polycystic kidney disease. Dr. Calvet's award was presented October 9th at the annual Chancellor's Club celebration.
  • Glen Andrews, Ph.D., was named a University Distinguished Professor by Chancellor Robert Hemenway in recognition of his outstanding contributions in teaching, research and service. This is the highest honor KU bestows on its faculty. The recognition was announced on March 24, 2009.
  • The department retreat was held on Tuesday, September 30, 2008.
  • A retirement reception was held for George M. Helmkamp Jr., Ph.D. on April 24, 2008.
  • Hiroo Katayama, Graduate Student in Biochemistry, was awarded the 2008 Joe R. Kimmel Award for outstanding research presentation in biochemistry at the Student Research Forum. Pictures from the reception attended by Mrs. Kimmel and her son Bruce Kimmel may be found here.

 

  • Rich Grabbe, Senior Coordinator, recently retired from 29 years of service to KUMC. A luncheon was held in his honor on December 7, 2007. Photos from the event may be found here.

  • James Calvet, Ph.D., received the Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Classroom Teaching during the 135th annual commencement ceremonies at the University of Kansas May 20, 2007.
  • Jacob Hodges is the recipient of the 2007 Grisolia Research Fellowship for Biomedical Research by a Medical Student at the recent Student Research Forum.
  • Matt Goering is the recipient of the 2007 Joe R. Kimmel Award for outstanding research presentation in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Student Research Forum.
